Rules

Adoptee World Cup Soccer Tournament Rules & Regulations
  1. All team participants must be Korean adoptee, and must be a registrant of the IKAA Gathering 2007. Each team should field a roster of between 10 – 15 players, with a minimum of 3 female competitors. Players may only sign up for ONE team. There will be NO “pick-up” players allowed.

  2. Teams will be under the auspices of one of the ten IKAA organizations, either separately or in combination with two or more organizations (ie. two organizations could combine to put together one team).  Other organizations may be allowed to field teams if there is room in the tournament (or players may request to join an IKAA organization team in their country). We currently expect teams from
AKF-Sweden Korea Klubben – Denmark Arierang - The Netherlands
AAAW (West coast) AK Connection (Midwest) Also Known As – NY (East coast)
G.O.A.’L/Korea Combined team? (France, Norway, Belgium?)

  3. Games will be played under recognized international rules of soccer…as much as possible …except there will be no offsides called when playing on the half-field/pitch.

  4. There is no maximum number of players that can be on a team.  All teams will be co-ed.

  5. Teams will consist of 8 players to a side (goalie plus 7) (unless we want to agree to 7 to a side).

  6. During games, a minimum of 2 female players must be in the game (on the field) at all times.  If 2 female players are not available, that side must play with one player down.

  7. All matches will be contested on a half field/pitch – because each team will play a minimum of 3 games and as many as 5 games in a single day!…and we don’t want anyone dying on us out there!

  8. Games will consist of two halves of 15 minutes each (will be 20 minutes each if there are only 6 teams in pool play), with a 5-minute half-time break.

  9. Breaks between when a team would be required to play again will be a minimum of 15 minutes.

  10. Teams will be split into two groups.  The top two teams in each group, in terms of points, will compete in a playoff following the preliminary round (winner of Group 1 vs. 2nd place in Group 2, and winner of Group 2 vs. 2nd place in Group 1).  The two winners will then play for the Adoptee World Cup Trophy.

  11. Teams will be awarded points for each game based on the following –
3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and zero points for a loss.
Goal differential (cumulative) will be maintained in the case of a tie.
Divisional ties will be settled based on head to head result first, then least goals allowed second, then maximum number of goals scored.

  12. Trophies will be awarded for 1st and 2nd places, plus individual awards to all participants.

  13. Team uniforms should be of similar kind and style with other teams, but colors are the choice of each team (suggestion - would be best to have your country’s colors – in the US, one team should be predominantly red, another white, another blue).  Printing of uniforms may be done together by all teams or individually by each team.

  14. All players on a team must wear matching uniforms when on the field.

  15. Teams may obtain corporate sponsorship on their own or with the assistance of the tournament committee (subject to change, dependent on the overall sponsor).
